Footlighters grande dame Mary Haas (1931 - 2023)

It is with heavy hearts that Footlighters announces the passing of one of our founding members of The Stained Glass Theatre, the incomparable Mary Haas. Mary was an accomplished director, actor, grant writer, fundraiser, and lifetime board member of Footlighters. Along with her beloved husband Don, Ron and Freida Houck, and Mario Pitocco, she was part of the group that purchased the Salem United Methodist Church that became Footlighters’ beautiful Stained Glass Theatre. Mary was a champion of all community theater and an integral part of ACT Cincinnati, OCTA, as well as Village Players of Fort Thomas for many years. We are forever grateful for her contributions, both artistically and financially, to Footlighters.

We would not be the organization we are today without her. We miss her already.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 8th from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, 415 Park Ave, Newport, KY 41071. The Funeral Ceremony will take place at the same location at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 8th. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

To honor Mary’s memory, donations can be made to St. Johns United Church of Christ, 415 Park Ave., Newport, KY 41071; Village Players, 8 N. Ft. Thomas Ave., Ft. Thomas, KY 41075; or The Footlighters, Inc., 802 York St., Newport, KY 41071.
