Footlighters has been in the Newport community welcoming patrons for over 25 years. We have partnered with many organizations over the years and wanted to reach out to our local schools to showcase the many talented students we have right here in Northern Kentucky.
To do so, the Footlighters production of The Miracle Worker is holding an Essay Contest open to students at Newport and Covington schools. The topic is "Overcoming Obstacles". What better example of someone who overcame seemingly insurmountable obstacles than Helen Keller! Each essay should be 250-300 words on the student's personal experience, highlighting how they overcame a hurdle or obstacle in life and how it made them feel.
Prizes
We will award the winning student from each school a $25 prize. They will also receive two tickets to one of our performances, and they will be recognized on stage as our contest winners. In addition, the winning essays and the first runner-up from each school will be displayed in our lobby during the three week run of the show.
