A seance gone awry creates mirth and mayhem in Noel Coward's sophisticated supernatural romp. Love with a ghost is never recommended! Charles Condomine is a successful novelist. Ruth is his charming, strong-willed wife. In order to conduct research for Charles' latest book, they invite a medium to their home to perform a seance, expecting that the eccentric psychic, Madame Arcati, will be a humorous shyster. However, her ability to connect with the dead is genuine as she does summon a ghost from Charles' past: Elvira – his first wife! But only Charles can see her!
Come see what happens as Elvira refuses to accept "Til death do us part," as well as how second wife Ruth responds to their ghostly visitor! Will Elvira always be a part of their marriage? Or will Elvira always be hanging around?
The play was first seen on the West End in London in 1941 and set a new long-run record for non-musical British plays at that time. Its most recent revival on Broadway in 2009 won the Drama League Award for Distinguished Revival of a Play and Angela Lansbury won her fifth Tony award for her portrayal of the wildly funny Madame Arcati.
